Karachi University (KU) Merit List 2026: Closing Percentages

These are the University of Karachi's own closing figures from the Directorate of Admissions: for Admissions 2027 (made in October 2026) the closing percentages for entrance-test-based programmes and Pharm-D (19 October) and the Visual Studies closing final points (26 October), and for Admissions 2026 (made in 2026) the closing percentages printed in the KU Prospectus 2027 (Appendices G and I). The Year column gives the year the list was made, so you can compare the two rounds.

How to read the KU closing percentage

For test-based programmes KU first sets a minimum entrance test score (usually 50 out of 100), then admits candidates who passed it in order of their academic percentage. The closing figure is the academic percentage of the last candidate admitted. Some programmes also show a second row with a lower test threshold (for example 40 or 35), with its own academic closing percentage. By default the table shows the latest (Admissions 2027) test score ≥ 50 rows; use the Year and Category filters for the previous round, the other thresholds and Visual Studies.

KU closing merit at a glance

• Highest: Pharm-D 84.27% (morning) and 80.00% (evening), up from 82.45% and 77.36% a year earlier.
• Computing (UBIT): BS Computer Science 80.00%, Artificial Intelligence 79.73%, Software Engineering 78.82%, each about 1.6 to 2.4 points higher than in 2025 (77.91%, 77.36%, 77.18%).
• Open merit (K, 2025): Digital Media Marketing 75.29%, Psychology (1st division) 79.82%, Microbiology 70.91%, BA LLB 70.18%, English 68.09%, Biochemistry 67.73%, Chemistry 61.36%.
• Health and food: Food Science & Technology 79.09%, Human Nutrition & Dietetics 77.73%, Biotechnology 75.27%, DPT 60.91%.
• Business: BBA at Karachi University Business School 73.82%; BS Commerce 66.91% with Intermediate Commerce, 51.27% from Arts/Science.
• Chemical Engineering (BE): 63.64%, or 70.84% for DAE holders.
• DAE seats (separate quota) close higher than the general seats of the same programme.

Visual Studies: closing final points

The Department of Visual Studies ranks on final points = 20% academic + 60% aptitude test + 20% interview (test pass mark 50/100, interview 10/20). Fine Art closed at 60.13%, Architecture 57.92% and Product Design 50.33%. Select "Visual Studies final points" in the Category filter to see all eight.

KU open merit closing percentage (2025)

Most KU BS departments (Mathematics, Physics, English, Economics, Psychology and others) admit on open merit, without an entrance test, in three categories: K (Matric, Intermediate or graduation from institutions in Karachi), S (rest of Sindh) and P (outside Sindh). K candidates get preference; S and P are considered only for seats left over. The table gives the category K closing percentages for Admissions 2026 from Appendix G of the prospectus. A figure of 45.00% or 50.00% usually means every eligible applicant was admitted.

The Admissions 2027 open-merit closing figures had not been published as a document when we checked; we will add them when KU releases them. S and P category figures and BS 3rd year closing figures are in Appendices G and H of the prospectus.
