How is the NED merit score calculated?

NED University ranks undergraduate applicants by a Merit Score (MS) set in its Admissions Schedule 2026 and admissions FAQ:

MS = 40% HSC Part-I (or O-level / equivalent) + 60% NED entry test

  • Test share = entry test marks ÷ 100 × 60
  • HSC share = HSC Part-I marks ÷ Part-I total × 40

Matric (SSC) marks are not part of the NED merit score for HSC candidates. The pre-admission entry test is computer based with four sections of 25 marks each, so it is out of 100. You need at least 50% in the test to qualify.

Does NED publish a closing merit?

No. NED issues provisional call lists in order of merit, separately for Karachi and other boards and for regular and self-finance seats, and candidates choose a discipline at the interview while seats last. It does not publish a closing percentage per discipline, so we do not show one. Your position in the call list matters more than a single cut-off.
