Merit Data Report 2026: Closing Merit Trends (2025 season data, updated as 2026 lists arrive)

This report sums up every official closing merit Apna Merit held on 31 October 2026. Most of it is 2025-season data: UHS, PU and UET Taxila had not published 2026 closing lists by then (KU's 2026 figures are in), and we add each 2026 list as it arrives. Last data added: 31 October 2026 (COMSATS). The count at the time: 591 records from the University of Health Sciences (UHS) for Punjab's medical and dental colleges, the University of the Punjab (PU), the University of Karachi (KU) and UET Taxila. Every figure below is computed from our open data files, and each one links back to the university's own merit list or prospectus. The tables only count years up to 2026, so 2027 lists added later do not change them.

Headline figures

• Karachi University's test-based closing percentages (candidates with at least 50 in the entrance test) rose by 1.69 points on average from 2025 to 2026, across 26 programmes listed in both years. Pharm-D (morning) closed highest at 84.27%.
• Punjab's public MBBS colleges closed 0.85 points lower on average in the final 2025 UHS list than in the last 2024 list. King Edward Medical University was still highest at 94.87%, 1.19 points below 2024.
• Punjab University's official 2025 closing merits ran from 91.34% for Pharm-D to 25.29% for B.Ed. Secondary Education, across 257 programs and shifts.
• UET Taxila's newest official closing positions (2024 entry) ran from 79.44% for Software Engineering to 53.07% for Environmental Engineering.

Summary by university

Each row uses the university's main view: the last or final merit list on open merit (for KU, test-based programmes with a test score of at least 50). "Average change" compares the same program, campus and shift in the newest year and the year before.

• In the 2026 Final list (open merit), COMSATS closing aggregates ranged from 85.00% to 57.16% across 9 programs and campuses.
• The highest COMSATS closing aggregate in the 2026 Final list (open merit) was 85.00%, for BS Computer Science at Lahore campus (Fall intake).
• The lowest COMSATS closing aggregate in the 2026 Final list (open merit) was 57.16%, for BS Accounting & Finance at Lahore campus (Fall intake).

University of Karachi (KU)

• In the 2026 Test-based list (test score ≥ 50), KU closing aggregates ranged from 84.27% to 45.36% across 27 programs and campuses.
• The highest KU closing aggregate in the 2026 Test-based list (test score ≥ 50) was 84.27%, for Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm-D) at Main campus, Karachi (Morning).
• The lowest KU closing aggregate in the 2026 Test-based list (test score ≥ 50) was 45.36%, for BS International Relations (Arts with Civics / GHS / Economics / Sociology / Logic / Geography) at Main campus, Karachi (Morning).
• On average, KU closing aggregates rose by 1.69 points from 2025 to 2026 (26 programs listed in both years).
• BS International Relations (Arts with Civics / GHS / Economics / Sociology / Logic / Geography) at Main campus, Karachi (Morning) closed at 45.36% in 2026, 7.46 points below 2025.
• BS Mass Communication (DAE) at Main campus, Karachi (Morning) closed at 76.31% in 2026, 14.48 points above 2025.

University of the Punjab (PU), Lahore

• In the 2025 Last merit list (open merit), PU closing aggregates ranged from 91.34% to 25.29% across 257 programs and campuses.
• The highest PU closing aggregate in the 2025 Last merit list (open merit) was 91.34%, for Pharm-D at Lahore (Morning).
• The lowest PU closing aggregate in the 2025 Last merit list (open merit) was 25.29%, for B.Ed. Secondary Education at Lahore (Morning).

University of Engineering and Technology (UET), Taxila

• In the 2024 Final list (open merit), UET Taxila closing aggregates ranged from 79.44% to 53.07% across 12 programs and campuses.
• The highest UET Taxila closing aggregate in the 2024 Final list (open merit) was 79.44%, for BSc Software Engineering at Main campus, Taxila.
• The lowest UET Taxila closing aggregate in the 2024 Final list (open merit) was 53.07%, for BSc Environmental Engineering at Main campus, Taxila.

University of Health Sciences (UHS), Lahore

• In the 2025 Final list (open merit), UHS Punjab closing aggregates ranged from 94.87% to 61.00% across 54 programs and campuses.
• The highest UHS Punjab closing aggregate in the 2025 Final list (open merit) was 94.87%, for MBBS (public) at King Edward Medical University (KEMC), Lahore.
• The lowest UHS Punjab closing aggregate in the 2025 Final list (open merit) was 61.00%, for MBBS (private) at Queens Medical College Kasur (for females only).
• On average, UHS Punjab closing aggregates fell by 0.85 points from 2024 to 2025 (17 programs listed in both years).
• MBBS (public) at King Edward Medical University (KEMC), Lahore closed at 94.87% in 2025, 1.19 points below 2024.

What is not in the data yet

• UHS 2026-27 lists. MDCAT 2026 was held on 20 September 2026; the MBBS and BDS selection lists for the 2026-27 session had not been published on 31 October 2026.
• PU 2026. Punjab University's candidate-wise 2026 lists can include candidates beyond the available seats, so the true closing merit cannot be read from them reliably. We wait for PU's own "Merit of Last Year 2026" summary.
• UET Taxila 2025 entry appears in the next undergraduate prospectus, which is not out yet. KU open merit for Admissions 2027 is still in progress.
• Added after this report: COMSATS closing merits (Lahore Fall 2026, Islamabad Spring 2025), on the COMSATS merit list; the summary table above already includes them, the 591 count does not.
• Calculator only. NUST, FAST, NED, GIKI, UET Peshawar, IIUI, UAF, Air University, Bahria and ITU publish no official program-wise closing merit online, so we show their formulas in the aggregate calculators and no merit table. UET Lahore, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KMU), Sindh medical colleges and NUMS are being added as their official lists become available.

How the figures are counted

Closing merit is the aggregate of the last candidate admitted to a program in a merit list (see what closing merit means). We copy it only from official university documents, never from third-party estimates, and record the year, list, category, campus and shift with each figure. The full rules are in our methodology.

What comes next

The 2027 admission season starts in May and June 2027, when our calculators and guides switch to the 2027 season.
