What is the ECAT aggregate formula?
ECAT is the engineering entry test of UET Lahore. Both UET Lahore and UET Taxila turn it into an aggregate with the same weights: 33% ECAT + 50% FSc Part-I (first year) + 17% Matric. UET Lahore sets this on page 19 of its Undergraduate Prospectus Spring 2026; UET Taxila lists it on its admission eligibility page and accepts ECAT or its own test (TCAT).

How many ECAT marks do you need?
With 480/550 in FSc Part-I and 1000/1100 in Matric, FSc and Matric already give 59.09 points. This table shows the ECAT score (out of 400) that would have matched each program's last official closing aggregate on open merit.

UET Lahore figures are from the Fall 2025 Fourth Merit List (A1 open merit); UET Taxila figures are 2024 entry from the UG Prospectus 2025, its newest published table. Closing merit changes every year with applicants and seats, so treat these as last year's line, not this year's guarantee. Every program is on the UET Lahore merit list and the UET Taxila merit list.
Which part of the formula matters most?
One ECAT mark is worth 0.0825 aggregate points (33 ÷ 400). One FSc Part-I mark out of 550 is worth about 0.091 points (50 ÷ 550), and one Matric mark about 0.015 points (17 ÷ 1100). FSc Part-I carries the biggest weight, but it is fixed by the time you sit ECAT, so ECAT is the part you can still move: 40 more ECAT marks add 3.3 points, more than the 2025 gap between Electrical Engineering (80.35%) and Computer Engineering (81.56%) at UET Lahore's main campus.

Do not use the ECAT formula for other universities. Each sets its own weights:

Hafiz-e-Quran and other extra marks
Both UETs add Hafiz-e-Quran marks to the FSc part, never to ECAT. UET Taxila adds 20 marks to FSc Part-I (its prospectus example: 300/400 test, 500 + 20/550 FSc Part-I and 700/1100 Matric give 82.84%). At UET Lahore a verification committee awards 0 to 20 marks after a test, so the exact figure is only known after it.
Common mistakes
- Using full FSc marks (out of 1100) in the FSc part. The formula uses Part-I, out of your board's Part-I total.
- Entering ECAT as a percentage. Enter the raw score out of 400.
- Rounding too early. UET Lahore's lists print aggregates to many decimals, and programs can close within 0.1 points of each other.
