MDCAT passing marks and minimum FSc marks (Punjab, session 2026-27)
The table below is built from the same data our MDCAT aggregate calculator uses to check eligibility. The minimums come from the Punjab MBBS/BDS admission policy for session 2026-27, notified by the Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education Department on 14 October 2026 and published by UHS, and they are repeated in the UHS admission notice for public-sector colleges.
| Program | MDCAT minimum | FSc / HSSC minimum |
|---|---|---|
| MBBS | 55% (99 of 180) | 60% (660 of 1100) |
| BDS | 50% (90 of 180) | 60% (660 of 1100) |
Marks are the lowest whole number that reaches the percentage on the usual totals; with another total, the percentage counts. Source: Punjab Admission Policy MBBS/BDS 2026-27 (MDCAT pass 55% MBBS, 50% BDS; HSSC 60%).
Who can apply for MBBS and BDS in Punjab?
The UHS admission notice for session 2026-2027 lists four basic conditions for public-sector medical and dental colleges:
- MDCAT: passed MDCAT 2026, 2025 or 2024 with at least 55% marks for MBBS and 50% for BDS.
- FSc / HSSC: passed HSSC (pre-medical) or an equivalent 12th-grade qualification recognised by IBCC, with at least 60% marks, including Biology, Chemistry and Physics or Mathematics.
- Domicile: a domicile certificate from any district of Punjab, except for overseas Pakistanis and dual nationals applying on their reserved seats.
- Quota seats: candidates for quota or reserved seats must also meet that category's extra conditions in the prospectus.
The national rule behind this is regulation 5 of the PM&DC Admissions, Curriculum and Conduct Policy and Regulations 2026: an open-merit candidate anywhere in Pakistan must have passed MDCAT, scored at least 60% in HSSC or an equivalent 12th-grade qualification (or a higher percentage if PM&DC notifies one), and passed Biology and Chemistry, with Physics or Mathematics as the third subject.
Example: is 98 out of 180 enough?
98 ÷ 180 × 100 = 54.44%. That is below the 55% MBBS pass mark but above the 50% BDS pass mark, so with at least 60% in FSc this student can apply for BDS but not for MBBS. One more mark (99/180 = 55.00%) would meet the MBBS minimum. For FSc out of 1100, 660 marks is exactly 60%; out of 1200 you need 720.
Passing MDCAT is not the same as getting a seat
The pass marks only decide who may apply. Seats then go by aggregate (50% MDCAT, 40% FSc, 10% Matric). In the final 2025 UHS lists, Punjab public MBBS colleges closed between 93.51% and 94.87% on open merit and private MBBS colleges between 90.84% and 61.00%. A student with exactly the minimum marks (55% MDCAT and 60% FSc) has an aggregate of about 51.5% plus their Matric share, far below those figures. See the full MDCAT merit list and the UHS admission schedule.
What about the 52% and 47% pass marks?
On 8 April 2026 PM&DC let admitting universities make a one-time cut of up to 3% in the MDCAT pass percentage (MBBS 52%, BDS 47%), but only to fill seats still vacant in session 2025-26 after every eligible candidate had been considered, with 15 April 2026 as the last date (PM&DC notification No. PF.1-C/2026/Council/Notification/1108). The Punjab policy for session 2026-27 is back at 55% for MBBS and 50% for BDS.
Overseas Pakistani and dual national seats
Candidates on overseas Pakistani or dual national (expatriate) seats may use MDCAT or, instead, SAT-II with at least 550 in Biology, Chemistry and Physics or Mathematics, or the international MCAT or UCAT with 50% marks in the required subjects. They also need at least 60% in their 12th-grade qualification with an IBCC equivalence (PM&DC regulation 8 and the UHS notice).
Other provinces and NUMS
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KMU), Sindh, Balochistan and NUMS (Armed Forces colleges) publish their own admission policies under the same PM&DC regulations. We have not yet checked their session 2026-27 minimums against an official document, so this page and our calculators use the Punjab (UHS) figures. Check your admitting university's notice, and see our NUMS merit list for Armed Forces colleges.
