After the MDCAT result, calculate your aggregate (10% Matric, 40% FSc, 50% MDCAT), check the floors (55% MDCAT for MBBS, 50% for BDS, 60% FSc), apply on the UHS portal before the deadline with all documents, order your college preferences carefully, then watch the provisional merit (13 Nov 2026), first selection list (17 Nov) and upgradation lists. Official source
Step 1: Work out your aggregate
Punjab's admission policy for session 2026-27 fixes the merit formula at 10% Matric, 40% FSc (pre-medical) and 50% MDCAT. Put your three results into the MDCAT aggregate calculator; it also shows where that aggregate stood against last year's closing merits and gives you a link you can send to family or a teacher.
Step 2: Check that you are eligible
| Requirement | Rule |
|---|---|
| MDCAT | Passed with at least 55% for MBBS or 50% for BDS. MDCAT 2026, 2025 or 2024 counts (valid three years). |
| FSc / HSSC | At least 60% with Biology, Chemistry and Physics or Mathematics (IBCC equivalence for other systems). |
| Domicile | Any district of Punjab, except for overseas Pakistani and dual-national applicants on their reserved seats. |
| Hafiz-e-Quran marks | Not added for medical and dental admissions. |
The MDCAT passing marks page checks your marks against these floors in one click.
Step 3: Apply on the UHS portal in time
UHS runs separate portals for MBBS (publicmbbs.uhs.edu.pk) and BDS (publicbds.uhs.edu.pk). For 2026-27 the MBBS portal was open from 16 to 30 October 2026 and the BDS portal opens from 15 to 30 December 2026; the processing fee is Rs 2,000, paid through Bank of Punjab or NBP (the 1Bill top-up option is not accepted). The full schedule, with a countdown to the next step, is on the UHS admission page.
Upload clear scans (PNG or JPG, under 500 KB each) of your Matric and FSc certificates, domicile, your CNIC or B-Form, a parent's CNIC and a photograph; quota applicants add their category documents. Incomplete applications are rejected and hard copies are not accepted.
Step 4: Fill the college preference list carefully
Public-sector applicants must select all colleges available for their seat category, in order of preference, and that order becomes final at the deadline. A college you leave out cannot be given to you later, even in upgradation. Read how to order your college preferences before you submit.
Step 5: Know where you stand
In the final 2025 UHS list, Punjab's public MBBS colleges closed between 93.51% (Narowal) and 94.87% (King Edward) on open merit, and public BDS between 93.42% and 93.46%. Private MBBS colleges closed far lower, from 61.00% to 90.84%. Enter your aggregate in the merit predictor to see every college marked Strong, Borderline or Unlikely, and the MDCAT merit list for the full tables.
Step 6: Watch the dates after you apply
- Provisional order of merit (13 November 2026 for MBBS): check your marks and aggregate line by line. What to check and how to report a mistake.
- Final order of merit (16 November) and the first college-wise selection list (17 November). Selected students pay the college fee within three working days and report to the college in writing, or the seat is lost.
- Upgradation lists (23 November, 1 December and more if needed). What happens if your name is not in the first list.
- Classes start on 1 February 2027 for MBBS and 1 March 2027 for BDS.
UHS publishes every list only on uhs.edu.pk and does not send call letters, so check the site on each date. You can add the official dates to your phone's calendar from the UHS admission page.
If your aggregate is below the public colleges
Private medical and dental colleges in Punjab run through the same UHS portal with a separate preference list and no limit on how many colleges you choose; a selected student deposits Rs 600,000 with UHS within three working days to hold the seat. NUMS (Army Medical College and affiliated colleges) has its own admission process with its own closing merits. Because MDCAT scores are valid for three years, you can also improve FSc marks or retake the MDCAT and apply next year.
Frequently asked questions
What is the first thing to do after the MDCAT result?
Calculate your aggregate with the 10/40/50 formula and check that you clear the floors: 55% in MDCAT for MBBS (50% for BDS) and 60% in FSc. Then apply on the UHS portal before the closing date.
Can I use an older MDCAT score?
Yes. The Punjab policy for 2026-27 accepts MDCAT 2026, 2025 or 2024; a score is valid for three years from the test date.
How much is the UHS application fee?
Rs 2,000, non-refundable, paid through Bank of Punjab or NBP by branch or 1Bill invoice. The 1Bill top-up option is not accepted.
Do I apply separately for MBBS and BDS?
Yes. UHS runs separate portals and separate applications for the medical and the dental programme, each with its own fee and preference list.
What happens after the first selection list?
Selected students pay the college fee within three working days and report to the college; vacant seats go to the next students through upgradation lists (23 Nov and 1 Dec 2026 for MBBS, with more if needed).
MDCAT result ke baad sab se pehle kya karein?
Apna aggregate nikalein (10% Matric, 40% FSc, 50% MDCAT), eligibility check karein (MBBS ke liye MDCAT 55%, BDS 50%, FSc 60%) aur UHS portal par deadline se pehle apply karein.
Agar aggregate government college se kam ho to kya option hai?
Private MBBS/BDS ki alag preference list isi UHS portal par hoti hai, NUMS ka apna process hai, aur MDCAT score teen saal valid rehta hai, is liye agle saal dobara apply ho sakta hai.
MDCAT result ke baad kya karein?
MDCAT result ke baad pehle calculator se aggregate nikalein, phir dekhein ke MDCAT mein 55% (BDS 50%) aur FSc mein 60% hain. UHS portal par deadline se pehle apply karein, saari documents upload karein aur college preference ki list soch kar bharein, kyunke deadline ke baad order change nahi hota.
Phir 13 November ko provisional merit, 17 November ko pehli selection list aur us ke baad upgradation lists dekhein. Har list sirf uhs.edu.pk par aati hai.
